North Hall Showers with MO

Today we gave numerouos showers, and shaved C. We did everything on our own today which made me feel pretty good about getting my license soon. To finish the day off, I helped make beaded necklaces.

Wednesday, May 6, 2009. Britthaven of Graham. Today i was partnered with S.C. again. We worked on south hall doing whatever the CNA's asked us to do. I have only worked on south hall once before so i am not as familiar with it as i am with north hall. I did learn something new though. The CNA's on north hall will always find you something to do, and the CNA's on south hall will usually ignore you. When S.C. and i first went to the nurses station we kept asking a CNA what she needed us to do, but she kept walking away and would never answer us. Finally we told Mrs. B and she asked the CNA to give us something to do and she told us to pass out ice. After we were finished with that, we started making beds. Later we helped out with exercises in the dining room. This is to keep the residents active and it keeps their bodies moving. All of our AHSII class did the "hokey pokey" and "If you're happy and you know it" with the residents. It was a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed it.

Friday, May 8, 2009. Britthaven of Graham. Today i was partnered up with L.G. We were assigned to check vital signs on north hall. We only had a problem with one resident. She had just got through taking a shower so she was really scared. We went in to check her vital signs and she was shaking all over and she was taking rapid breaths. We checked her O2 level and it was 75. We went and got a nurse and she told us to just come back in a few minutes and try again because the resident was probably scared. The nurse was right, we went back a little bit later and her O2 level was 92. After we were finished checking vital signs we helped with handing out residents snacks. When we were finished with that, we asked one of the RN's if we could go around with her while she did her treatments. It was really interesting to watch this. Later we helped with beadmaking. The women in the nursing home loves to do this, and so did i!

Wed. may 6,2009 I gave showers with my partner SR she was very helpful and gave me tips on how to treat the pts that i've never givin a shower to. Our CNA allowed us to go out on our own and we got done twice as much work. on the 7th i did Vital signs i really needed to practice my blood pressures so my partner allowed me to do all those and i think that i really improved on that topic im greatful that my partner had some good tips that the CNAs told her about listening carefully. On the 8th i worked the hall i think everytime we go back to something we've already done it gets 10xs easier. So i didnt have to bad of a day and the PT told me that one of the Pt's started feeding them selfs and i got super excited.
